How time flies

It has been a very long time since I took the time to blog. Where do I star. I guess an update on Eli's arm would be the best place. He has been cast free for over a month now. He was so brave through the whole thing. He is going good. He still tends to not use the arm as much at times but it is his left and he is right handed. It is bowed some but the doctor said it would correct itself with him as young as he is. Time will tell.

Eli turned four in July. He wanted a tractor on his cake. That is what he had last year but he said that was okay he wanted it again. We had just family and had a great time. He told me the other day that he wants Diego next year. We will see if that is still the case next summer.

Micah is great. He is go big. He will be 20 months on the 2nd. He is not scared of trying anything. Lately he has been a little afraid of loud noises again. He is so funny. He is the kindest child. He started yes mam and thank you without my having to really tell him. He may have heard me tell that to Eli enough that he caught on. He is always grinning.

I am still working at the bank. It is good to be out some during the week. Adult conservation is nice but I miss the time with the boys. I will try to get some pictures up of the boys soon.

Camp and broken arms...

Teen Week was last week. Eli got to go with Pop, Lollie, Scott and Halley for the week. Micah and I got to go and stay two nights. We had so much fun. The weather was great. It was warm but I can remember much warmer days. Camp is such a big part of our life. Eli is ready to go again. I have a cute story from camp to share. Eli found a stick shaped like a gun. He picks it up and starts to play. Lollie starts to explain how we never point a gun at a person or shot at a person. She tells him it would be okay to shot at rabbits or at targets. Eli then tells Lollie it would be okay to shot at Walmarts. He thought the target she was referring to was the store.

And the broken arm also goes to Eli. He fell off the bar stool last night and reached to catch himself. He broke both bones in his left arm. We have a splint like brace on it now. They now require you to wait 5 to 10 days to put a cast on the arm to make sure all the swelling has stopped. He was so brave. All the nurses commented on how brave he was as well as how polite. He did so good. He asked on the way to the ER if he would get a new arm or if they would have to put air in his. He also said that we would have to pray for him. It is amazing what their minds think of. So Eli will not get to go to camp this Sunday. He will have to wait till next year. He also told me that his arm would be better by camp next year. He is such a little trooper!

Micah is great. Still climbing on everything and has the most charming smile I have ever seen.

Hey everyone! I just did something really neat and easy. Hope you are all good. VBS was great. Very glad the week is over because it has been so busy. On a very sad note. I would like to ask all of you to pray for the Maxwell and Childers families. Jonathan and Anna had their first baby on Thursday. Due to some unknow problems as of know, the baby died this afternoon. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Busy week ahead

Our VBS starts tomorrow....ready or not. I am ready, I think. Sometimes I think when it comes to VBS you are not truly ready until Wednesday and of course by then the week is half over.

Both my boys have runny noses and are coughing. I hope we dont have to make a trip to see the doctor but you never know. Micah is cutting jaw teeth so I think that has something to do with his. He has been moody lately. He has also taken to wanting to drink juice instead of eating. That is very un-Micah. He and Eli both are really good eaters so it has been a little strange to see him not eat. I hope it is just the teeth coming in that is causing the habit change.

Not only do we have VBS next week, but I have a busier than normal work week ahead. I will be working three half days, a day where i work a few hours in the afternoon to allow someone to go to a meeting and Saturday. It is going to be a challenging week!

Outside...

is where my two boys want to be all the time. They love to be outside. Playing with toys or in the sand box or digging in the dirt is fine with them if it means being outside. They are so much fun to watch. Today we helped Pop and Lollie plant the garden. I know it is a little late but the boys had so much fun. Eli helped Pop run the tiller. He was so cute walking along side the tiller and trying to talk to Pop. Of course Pop could not hear anything because of the tiller. Micah took his shoes off and walked in the newly tilled soil and the look on his face was precious. Eli of course needed his shoes off too so he could walk in the dirt like Micah. They had fun.

We got the pool open finally. After all the rain from May we finally get in yesterday for the first time. I think the cover was drained about four times before we finally got it to where the cover could come off and us be here long enough to be able to take it off when it was ready. The boys love the pool. Eli picked right up where the was last year at the end of the summer with not being scared of the water or it getting in his face. He does so good. He stays off by himself most of the time. Micah was a little unsure yesterday in some ways. He would get to kicking and bouncing and get some water in his face and then settle for a little while. Yesterday it did not take too long and he was ready to be out. He wants me to be the one holding him all the time but that is okay with me. You just get a little tired after a while. He did great today. I think he would have stayed longer than what we did but he needed a nap.

We have VBS next week at church. Eli has worked so hard helping paint. He is so cute and wants to help so badly. I hope he keeps that spirit about him. Micah has taken some bumps to the head while at the building working and that has keep us on our toes. He is growing so fast that has helped to cause so of the bumps. Places he could walk one day it seems the next he can not without hitting something. I am still not finished in my room. Hopefully I will be Saturday. I dont lack much but sometimes getting the little stuff done is the hardest.

Home

We came all the way home yesterday. The boys were great. Eli rode with his daddy on the way home and had a great time. Micah slept a lot and thus was not all that ready to go to sleep when everyone else was. The trip was good. It is nice to be home but it is bittersweet.

Heading home....

We are heading home today. We will not arrive till some time Saturday. Both boys are ready for home and their toys I believe. Eli has asked several times when we will go to his "white house." They have been so good. Keep us in your prayers as we travel.

Traveling

So we are in North Carolina. We took two days to make the trip and have been here since Sunday. Happy late Mothers day to all you moms. We spent most of Mother's Day in the car but it was a good day. The boys, via my sister, got me a charm that has two little boys on it. It is beautiful. We are here till Friday some time. It has been a good trip so far. The boys have been great. They are starting to get tired of not having their normal routine. Although I would not have said we had a normal routine.

I know I promised pictures a while back and I hope to get those up soon plus some from our trip.

Nothing much...

We have be up to nothing much. I am working - either at the bank or around the house. The boys are staying outside as much as possible. Pop and Lollie have a lot of yard work and both boys love to help.

Eli has been saying the prayer before we eat for a while now. But lately he has started saying a longer prayer. Most days he tells God thanks for the fun stuff we did today outside. He will even throw in an occasional "I got in trouble" or thanks for the Dr Pepper I get to drink. It is so cute I have a hard time not laughing at him. Which I really dont need to do because then he or Micah will think that it is okay to laugh during prayer. What fun boys.

Micah has a rash all over him now. I took him to see the doctor Thursday afternoon and he said he thought the fever was viral or allergy related. I guess due to having a rash now it was more viral. I think he is also about to cut some more teeth. He still only has three on the bottom so the fourth should come soon as well as the first set of molars. What fun to look forward too!

Spring

I got home this morning after having to go to town and noticed one of Micah's eyes looked a little red. I hope we are not going to be one that has allergy pink eye and keep it all spring. But if we do we will take it one eye at a time.

We spent so time out today in the sand box. The boys love to play in the sand. Micah and Eli also like to dig and help plant flowers. Today Micah wanted to help water the trees and plants also.

Micah got in the swing today while we were outside. He enjoyed it. He also went down the slide and would get to the bottom and jump up saying again. It was so cute. I also too pics today of him feeding himself. He does so good and was such a mess.

Eli is great. He is coughing again but i really think it is because of allergies. He is getting so big. While we were outside today he sat and played with his backhoe and wheel loader. He knows the difference between them and will correct you if you call one the wrong name. I could go on for hours, so I better stop now. I will try to upload pics this week.

Clear eyes...

Micah's eyes are back to normal. Boy, he did not like the eye drops. Now he has a runny nose. As does Eli.

The boys got to go to a Fun Day at Cotaco School on Friday. They had a great time. Well, I was told they had fun. Pop and Lollie got to go with them and I worked. There are some great pics I hope to up load this week. Not much else is going on. We are loving being outside. Micah is very quick. He can move nicely over the ground and if you are not careful be up the steps. Eli got his tee out yesterday and is getting use to hitting a base ball with his "base bat" again. We played soccer today. It was so much fun.

Pink eyes....

You got it. We have pink eye. Micah woke up with it from his nap yesterday. Of course this was at 5 so we could not go to the doctor till today. Not only do we have pink eye, we have it in both eyes. Aint that fun. So we are getting to do the eye drops four times a day, two drops per eye. You never know how strong a child is till you have to hold them down to do something. It is taking three of us.

Eli is doing great. Since it is finally starting to warm up he is staying outside a good bit. He loves to plant flowers with Pop and Lollie.

Fun on the farm

Here are some pictures we took today at the Gullion farm. We always have so much fun at the farm. Micah found the ball and was done hunting eggs. He had found the biggest one so why look any more. Eli loves any car he can ride on.

Hunting eggs

Today was the egg hunt. The boys had so much fun. We go to the Gullion farm each year. We dye the eggs and then hunt. The kids have so much fun. After the hunt we eat lunch and the kids play. I had to go to work after the hunt but was

able to enjoy part of the day. These are just a few of the pictures we took of the boys while they were dyeing and hunting.

So much better

We are finally better. Micah finally started eating again yesterday. We had to take him to the dr and he had lost two pounds on Wednesday. Thursday morning we had to take him back. He had gained a few ounces and that is the only reason he was not put into the hospital. The sickness just seemed to hang around for everyone, not just Micah. It is amazing how much difference two pounds makes on a baby. I had to put 12 months pants on Micah again. (He is a big boy.)

Eli is also better. He is really into trying to tell time. He wantes to know what time the clock says adn will make up his own time if you dont answer quick enough.

Sickness

I finally understand how Leah felt a few weeks ago. We have all had the stomach virus. Micah is still sick. We are going to see the dr this afternoon. He has been vomiting since Sunday morning. It has slowed some but it will just not go away. Eli and I are better. Pop and Lollie are also on the mend but not all the way there yet. I think everything in the house has been washed at least three times.

Champs and mohawks

I have been meaning to update the outcome of the championship game we got to go to Thursday night. Madison Academy won!!! This was the third year in a row for them. We stopped to eat on the way down to the game. As we were standing in line to order, Eli looks at me and says "Mom look at his hair." A few people in front of us stood a teen with a mohawk. I very good mohawk at that. I reply, "Eli dont talk so loud about he hair." Eli's reply was, "He looks like a dinosaur." It was all we could do to not fall in the floor laughing. It was so sweet and precious.

The game was great. This was the first state championship game I had ever gone to. We enjoyed it. The boys had so much fun and were so well behaved.

Fun things...

Micah is at the age where he is always going new things. Yesterday he walked backwards for the first time. I had asked him if I could give him a kiss and he said no and started walking backwards. He got to giggling while he was walking backwards and had to sit down. He was so cute. He is starting to notice things and wants to touch everything. He likes to pull on ceiling fan pulls. He also likes to turn computers off. He is standing right here so I will have to be watchful or he will turn the computer off while I type.

Eli is better. He is so fun when he is playing. He has started talking for all his toys. He will say something and then say "asked Thomas." No matter what he says they always ask it. He told me yesterday that he needed to kiss me. Then patted it in so it would last. I love my boys.

Coughs. runny noses and basketball

We have joined the ranks of the sick. Eli and I both went to the dr today. We both are on a antibiotic. This is the first antibiotic for me in more than 15 years. I can not remember the last time I had to have one. Eli is on a second one this winter and only his four total. We have been so blessed with good health. I noticed right before we left and when we got home from the dr that Micah seemed to be coughing. I hope it does not mean another trip to the dr before the week is out. But it may.

My brother-in-law, Scott, is an assistant coach at Madison Academy. They won today at Birmingham, I think by 11 points. They play Thursday night for a state title. If they win it would be the third in a row for the team. Scott will not be worth anything just because they have gotten this far. If they win it will summer before he comes down out of the clouds. If you ask Eli who he is going to be like when he grows up it is Scott and Glenn, my other brother-in-law. He is going to be big and tall like them both. God has truly blessed my sisters with good men.

Driving

Eli and I were talking the other day while driving and I was saying how big he was getting. His reply was that he would be able to drive tomorrow. I, of course, told him that it would be about 13 more years before he could drive. And I know those 13 years will pass to quickly. We were laying down last night for bedtime and I again said something about he big he was getting. Eli replies, Yes and tomorrow I get to drive. He loves cars and trucks and trains and everything else with wheels I guess the desire to drive is strong already.

Yesterday, the boys and I went to eat lunch with my cousin, Kiley. We had a few errands to run first so we stopped at Target. As I am parking, Eli says, "Mama, you can drop me and Micah off up there and I am big enough to watch us." He was so serious. Eli loves to help with Micah and wants to be so big. His time will come soon.

Micah is walking so well. Today after I got home from work it seemed like he was walking so much faster then yesterday. Before long he will be running right along with Eli.

Last few days...

The last few days have been so very busy. I had to work Friday of course and Saturday was my day to work. We had a busy Sunday. We have Bible Bowl on Sunday afternoons. I teach the Junior class, grades 3-6. I have some very smart kids. They did so well on Sunday and won the competition. That made 4 out of the five we have had. March will be the last one till September.

The boys still have runny noses. It seems like we will have a day or two where it seems the stuffiness is better and then days like today where it seems all I have done is wipe noses. I wish the weather would either be warm or cold. It would help everyone out. Oh well, it could be worse. Be thankful it is only a runny nose, Bekah!

Micah is a true walker now. He is doing great! It is so fun to watch him walk around. He was trying to hold Bryleigh's hand today as they walked down the hall. He did good for a few steps and then would get off balance and sit down. It was priceless. He is getting to where he will copy Eli also. Eli was "working" on the table in the dining room and a few mintues later here came Micah with the same tool trying his best to do the same things Eli had been. Eli is still doing pretty good sharing toys with Micah. We are starting to have a harder time about certain toys but overall still going good. It is amazing at how fast they grow.

Micah's one year check

We went Thursday for Micah's one year check. He weighs 23 lbs and 9 ozs and was 30 inches long. He is getting so big. Everything was great. He decided that being on the table for the dr to check him was not fun and for the first time, save shots, cried. He got two shots and has been pretty good. I can not believe that my baby is a year old.

Smart boys

I know that all parents are biased about their children being smart, but I must share some stories about mine. Eli is standing here right now telling me I need to spell E-l-i. That is not one of the stories but he is being too cute.

Micah was sitting in Eli's room today playing with some of the toys while Eli and I were in there. Eli has some of the Catapiller toys and some have three buttons on them. Micah would mash a button on one of the toys and then turn to another and mash the same button. There are two circles and one square shaped button all in a row and he would mash the button in the same place each time. It amazed me. Then he has an airplane flying it in the air. At one and four days old he is amazing.

Eli was sitting with Lollie looking at a number book yesterday. They would count the trains and then Eli would find the number. The fact that he can tell you what a 2 or a 6 or a 7 is great. I am already torn with do I keep him out a year or go ahead a start next year when he turns 5. That is the biggest draw back to him having a birthday at the end of July.

I have been so blessed with the two childern God has given me.

Birthday pictures

Here are some pictures from the party today. Micah had lots of fun.

Happy Birthday...Micah

It is hard to believe that one year ago today, I made a trip to the hospital and welcomed a new baby boy. This year has been full of so many smiles and milestones reached. Micah turned one today. It is a sad day in that my baby is not so little anymore. This week has been full of tears for him. He has a fat lip from getting to close to a chair Friday, a mashed finger today and a bruise that is just about gone from falling in Eli's room.

We had a party for the family today. That was enough for us. Winnie the Pooh was on Micah's cake. He was so cute playing in his cake. He did not want to eat the cake. He feed Mommy instead. He did enjoy playing in the cake though. He was so sweet opening the gifts. He would pull off a little piece of wrapping and hand it to me and repeat till he got the gift unwrapped. Then on to the next gift even if he did not see what was in the bag or box.

5. The Silverdale/Seattle Washington area...Eli was born in Washington state. The area is beautiful. The best time to go is Aug or Sept. There is so much to see and do. It is a trip that I would say you must take.

4. The DC area again. I would love to take a trip with the boys and share the sights and history with them. Having a degree in Social Science, it would be a trip that I would love to share with Eli and Micah.

3. The Bad Lands/Mt Rushmore...I have never been and would love to see the area.

2. Grand Canyon...again never been. Had hoped to be able to go while living on the West Coast but never made it.

1. And finally...the smiles of Eli and Micah. I love to see their eyes light up and the grins on their faces when they are happy or accomplish something new.

Here you go Halley, Christy, Tammy, Rachel and David. Let see what you guys have to say.

Pictures of the boys caption

My computer decided to act up as I was uploading the pictures. So while I got the pictures up I could not type anything. The first picture was our Christmas card. The next just a really good shot of Micah. The one of the boys together they are dressed in outsits that my sister Rachael bought for them. Thanks Aunt Ray Ray. The other two are from the trip to the circus the first weekend in December. We had so much fun. Hope you all enjoy. More pictures later.

A step and a cut

Micah took a step tonight! Eli and I were writing numbers in a book he got for christmas and Mom was sitting in the floor. Micah was leaning on my leg and took a step toward Mom to get a toy she was holding. He reached the couch before taking another. We tried to get him to take another step but he would not let go for anything. I am not sure if he liked the way the step felt. He is getting so big. I am not sure if I am ready for this milestone.

Eli got a haircut today. He sat so still, just like always. He loves Ms. Dana. He looked so big today after this cut. I dont know if it was just that it had been six weeks since the last cut or if it is just that my little man is growing up. Maybe a little of both

Christmas....finally!

This has been the craziest end to a year that I can ever remember. Thanksgiving was here before I turned around and then December marched right on in. My parents do a Christmas Open House each December for the members at church and the community. This one was busier since we had moved back in the house after the remodel in June. Things did not fit in the same place due to a change in the layout of the house and that threw Mom. Having two grandkids living with her also helped add to a slower prep time than normal. Everything went well and we had a great turnout although it was one of the first times it had rained in a long time that night.

With the open house behind us, we had 10 days till Christmas. Although most of my shopping was done, there are still so many things to be done. Wrapping the gifts, planning when you will be with everyone and trying to get a trip to see Santa in. Micah cried so much but the pictures were wonderful. Good job Christy! Eli was timed at first but warmed enough to have a great picture made. Again, good job Christy!

Christmas was good but so busy, I dont really remember the day. Which I hate some since it was Micah's first. Have lots of pictures though. Which I will try to post this week. No promise. Santa brought Eli a guitar. He loves it. He was so fun opening gifts. He was in no hurry. In fact that morning when I went in to wake him he told me "No, I sleep longer and open later." Each gift was opened, he waited for it to be taken out of the box and then played about 5-10 mins with each before he would open the next. At 6pm, he was still opening gifts from the morning. Micah was more interested in what Eli got than opening his gifts. Next year will be different.

I have lots more to share but more to do in the house before bed time. Hopefully now that the holidays are over I will be able to type more.
